Riding for Rare – Charlie’s Compass Run

image description

Each day in Australia, people are touched in some way by the tentacles of cancer. For most, that cancer will have a well-known name, a strategy for treatment and a public consciousness that builds a network of support. But for those afflicted with a rare form of the disease, the road can be long, expensive and very, very lonely. There are many worthy charities and campaigns out there raising public consciousness of those cancers represented by their own coloured ribbons, but there’s precious little awareness in Australia of the many rare and often brutally aggressive forms of the disease.

Our Beachport Liquid Minerals QLD/NT Regional Manager, Charlie Crossley has teamed up with Steve Cowley and their mate John Burton to raise money and awareness to support those who battle “without a ribbon”.

The three middle-aged motorbike fanatics are taking to the road this year at the end of October, the affable trio will embark on a 54 day “Compass Run” around Australia on their adventure motorbikes, aiming to visit all four extremities – north, south, east and west – raising money and awareness for emerging charity Without a Ribbon as they go.

For more information on the ride, go to the website, www.compassrun.com.au and follow the links to donate. More information on Without a Ribbon can be found at www.withoutaribbon.org, where you can also donate.
