PCAS approval welcomed by Certified Pasturefed producers

Australian producers in favour of simpler and more sustainable livestock supplementation now have access to a unique Australian-made liquid concentrate range that is wholly Pasturefed Cattle Assurance System (PCAS) approved.

Family-owned Beachport Liquid Minerals has received approval under PCAS for the company’s entire high performance supplements range. The recognition gives Australian producers running Certified Pasturefed operations the assurance that all Beachport Liquid Minerals products have the PCAS tick of approval.

PCAS is an assurance program enabling the livestock industry to prove claims relating to pasturefed or grassfed production.

‘Beachport’ founder and fourth generation livestock producer, Kym Sutherland, says the PCAS certification has been welcomed by new Certified Pasturefed clients who have been eagerly waiting to bring Beachport into their production programs.

“Our products and production processes have always aligned with PCAS standards, but having those official green ticks for all eight products in our range means we can now offer the Beachport benefits to producers who need that PCAS seal of approval,” Kym said.

“It adds another layer of quality assurance for producers who buy Beachport, on top of our already stringent testing standards. This includes individual NATA accredited analysis of every batch, Feedsafe accreditation and certification by the National Association for Sustainable Agriculture Australia (NASAA) for our organic range, which is also compliant with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Organic Program (USDA NOP). Our products also contain zero antibiotics or ionophores.”

Beachport’s pioneered a method for livestock to utilise important amino acids and trace elements without them being degraded by the rumen. They are rapidly absorbed via the small intestine, straight into the bloodstream, similar to an injection.

“Because we’re enabling the absorption of amino acids and trace elements straight into the bloodstream, daily dosing can be a thing of the past,” Kym said.

What further sets Beachport’s supplements apart is they also contain fulvic acid, one of nature’s most powerful natural electrolytes, which can reduce stress and boost immunity. It stimulates the rumen, is completely soluble, bonds and dissolves minerals and nutritional elements, and can carry minerals and trace elements into cells.

The fulvic acid and amino acids in Beachport’s products come from kelp and seagrass.

“In utilising a waste product that expels methane and converting it into something that is improving livestock production, saving time, lowering input costs and reducing carbon footprints, Beachport is a proud pioneer of sustainability in this industry,” Kym said.

“A one thousand litre container of Beachport fits on the back of a ute and doses up to 20,000 head of cattle – one dose lasts six weeks. To dose the same number of cattle with lick or blocks, it takes on average three semi-trailers to transport the equivalent amount.

“By reducing the transportation of truckloads of blocks and licks we can slash carbon emissions from our industry. At the same time, producers can drastically lower their input costs of fuel, finite resources and chemicals.”

Beachport’s liquid concentrates are delivered straight from drums into the animals’ drinking water via a specially designed dispenser. The drums sit in the water troughs for three days, the liquid concentrate is slowly released as the animals come back and forth to drink, then it goes to work in their bloodstream, lasting six weeks.

With a three-year shelf life, Beachport’s liquid concentrates can help with:

  • Feed conversion of dry and green feed
  • Livestock better utilising fresh green feed
  • Trace element deficiencies
  • Lowering stress during transport, weaning, introduction and exit from feedlots
  • Supporting rumen development in young animals
  • Improving fertility and survival rates
  • Tightening up calving/lambing periods with a more even drop
  • Improving the health of poorer doing livestock
  • Improving wool cut and tensile strength
