Beachport Liquid Mineral’s Biggest Morning Tea

image description

Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is held by businesses, individuals and community groups throughout May and June annually. This event is an opportunity for family, friends, work mates and community members to come together over a cup of tea and piece of cake, whilst raising money to support the work of the Cancer Council. The funds raised are used by the Cancer Council to support research, prevention and support services.

In 2016 the Biggest Morning Tea events held throughout Australia raised over $11.9 million dollars for the Cancer Council. The team at BLM all know someone that has been affected by cancer so this was a cause very close to our hearts.

Kate got the ball rolling by setting up our event on the Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea website. We had decided to hold an in-house morning tea for our staff whilst the majority of our Regional Managers were in our head office for a quarterly staff catch up. We then decided to let surrounding businesses know of our event and provide them with the opportunity to donate towards the Cancer Council and pick up some yummy morning tea at the same time. This turned out to be a big hit as we had over 40 plates of cakes, slices, muffins and goodies go out to local businesses located near our manufacturing offices.

Our staff provided the plates of morning tea (or got their Mum’s to cook!) and we ended up with an amazing amount of home-baked goodies. Pavlovas, slices, cakes, sausage rolls, doughnuts, biscuits and more filled our office! Mel, Colleen and Tabatha set to preparing the plates of food for our neighbouring businesses and ensured they all had a mountain of delicious included!

By mid-morning, we joined together as a team to eat the mountain of morning tea we had, with some friends and family also popping in to help the great cause. Overall our event raised just over $500.00 for the Cancer Council.

We would like to extend our thanks to all the businesses from the Suttontown Industrial area that supported our morning tea and we hope that you all enjoyed your plates of goodies.
