How our supplements work

The science behind how our supplements work

The LivestockIQ supplements are designed to deliver the power of amino acids and electrolytes along with minerals to provide a complete, bioavailable nutrition system that works with the animal’s biology to support health, performance and resilience year-round.

A complete nutritional approach

Each formulation combines trace elements, seagrass-derived amino acids and natural electrolytes into one balanced dose.

Chelated trace elements

Seagrass-derived amino acids

Natural fulvic acid electrolytes

This unique combination supports:

  • Improved feed conversion on both dry and green feed
  • Correction of amino acid and trace element deficiencies
  • Reduced stress during seasonal or management pressure
  • Better weight gain, fertility and conception rates
  • Stronger immunity and overall productivity
Amino acids (the building blocks of protein) play a central role in growth, tissue repair, reproduction and immune function. Because livestock cannot produce the nine essential amino acids themselves, our formulations deliver them directly, alongside key major elements and trace minerals needed for optimal metabolic function.

Rumen protected formula

Sustained nutrient absorption beyond the rumen

Ruminants rely on two forms of digestible protein.

Rumen degradable protein (RDP)

Broken down by rumen microbes to produce microbial crude protein

Undegraded dietary protein (UDP)

Bypasses the rumen and is absorbed directly in the small intestine.

Together these create metabolisable protein (MP), the critical nutrient pool for growth, reproduction and lactation. Traditional supplements are often degraded in the rumen before they can be fully utilised. LivestockIQ formulations are specifically designed to be rumen-protected.

We begin with simple amino acids derived from sea grass and bio-synthesise them into complex amino acids, bonding them with natural electrolytes from fulvic acid and chelated trace elements. This chelation process:

  • Eliminates antagonism between elements
  • Protects nutrients from breakdown in water, the rumen and abomasum
  • Allows direct absorption through the small intestine into the bloodstream

4 to 6 weeks

Once in the bloodstream, nutrients are released slowly over 4 to 6 weeks, providing steady support without nutrient spikes or frequent re-dosing. The effect is comparable to injectable efficiency, delivered through a simple water-based system.

Designed to work in the animal, not in the trough

Our chelation process keeps nutrients suspended rather than dissolved in water, delivering:

1

Even distribution across the trough for consistent intake

2

Protection from degradation before absorption

3

Reliable delivery into the bloodstream via the small intestine

Every animal needs to drink, and they drink to their weight, making water the most natural and dependable delivery pathway.

Simple, practical application

Using the ProDispenser, one dose is released into the trough over 48 to 72 hours, ensuring low-stress intake with minimal labour and no yarding.

New in the range

Why we've added boron

Boron is a trace mineral that works behind the scenes. Rather than doing one job on its own, it influences how the body handles other key minerals. That’s why it’s now included in our conventional livestock formulations.

Where boron plays a role
Mineral metabolismBoron interacts with how the body uses calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and vitamin D.
Calcium and phosphorus useTrials in pigs and poultry have linked boron to better calcium and phosphorus retention and stronger bones.1,2
Bone and skeletal developmentBoron is involved in bone formation and mineralisation, alongside calcium, phosphorus and magnesium.2
Antioxidant and immune activityReviews link boron to antioxidant activity and immune response, helping support animals through stress.2
What about cattle and sheep? Research in ruminants is still developing. Studies in dairy cows around calving have looked at boron's effect on energy metabolism and colostrum, with promising early results.3,4 We see boron as a supporting player that rounds out our formulations, working alongside the trace elements and 16 amino acids already in the range.
OrganicMax* and OrganicGuard* remain boron-free to meet organic input requirements.
