ProDispenser

A smarter way to supplement through the water trough.

The stainless steel ProDispenser slowly releases a measured dose of LivestockIQ supplement into the trough over about 3 days, so every animal at the water point gets access as it drinks. No pumps, no power, no daily dosing.

Screws onto 5L, 10L and 20L DosingDrums.

For our year-round supplements, one 3-day application provides nutritional support for up to 6 weeks.

The recommended way to apply LivestockIQ supplements is through the water trough with the ProDispenser.

1

Measure

Work out the dose from your livestock numbers and the label dose rate, or the DoseIQ calculator. Example: 100 cows × 50mL = 5L.

2

Fill & connect

Pour the dose into a clean, empty DosingDrum, leaving approx. 20% air space. For small doses, top up with water for extra weight. Screw the ProDispenser on firmly.

3

Dose

Start with clean, cool water where possible. Drop the drum into the trough and it will self-right, with the ProDispenser fully under water. Let it float freely for about 3 days.

4

Repeat

Empty liquid left in the drum, into the trough. Repeat every 6 weeks for year-round products, or as directed on the drum label. MagBoost, for example, is dosed every 3 weeks through the risk window.

How the ProDispenser works

As product flows out, an equal amount of water is drawn into the drum. That air and water pressure keeps the drum weighted and the release steady, with no pumps, power or moving parts. It is also why the air space matters: without it, the ProDispenser can’t meter correctly.

Warm water speeds the release up, and cold or hard water slows it down. The light, tea-coloured liquid left in the drum at the end is normal.

Approximate maximum fill per drum

DrumMaximum fill
20L drum18L total liquid
10L drum8L total liquid
5L drum4L total liquid

Do

  • Measure the dose first into a clean, empty DosingDrum.
  • Leave approx. 20% air space.
  • Let the drum float and move freely in the trough.
  • Add water to small doses for extra weight.
  • Start with clean trough water where possible.

Don’t

  • Attach the ProDispenser to a full drum of product.
  • Fill the drum to the top.
  • Mix with other products in the water supply, including urea.
  • Leave the ProDispenser in the trough longer than needed.

Scientifically proven delivery system

Adelaide University trial results demonstrate the effectiveness of our water-based delivery method, with nutritional levels maintained throughout the six-week period. That means less frequent supplementation, saving you time and money, with less handling, better animal welfare and a more sustainable approach to supplementation.

Troubleshooting and care

The stainless steel ProDispenser is built tough and every unit is checked before dispatch. With correct setup and basic care, it will give reliable service for many seasons.

Troubleshooting

  • Check the trough water is clean and free of debris.
  • Confirm 20% air space has been left in the drum.
  • Very hard or cold water may slow flow slightly, so leave the drum in for an extra day.
  • Very hot conditions can speed up the flow.
  • Water quality and temperature can affect flow rate.
  • Ensure the drum can move freely in the trough.
  • Check for sediment around the dispenser ports.
  • Add extra water to provide weight and reduce pressure.
  • Confirm the drum has not been overfilled.
  • Ensure the ProDispenser has not been attached to a full drum of concentrate.

Cleaning instructions

General cleaning

  • Wash the ProDispenser in hot water.
  • Blow out the two ports (grub screws) with an air compressor.
  • For calcium build-up, dip the head of the dispenser in CLR and rinse thoroughly.
  • Avoid leaving the ProDispenser in the trough for long periods to minimise build-up.

Clearing a blockage

  • Remove the two grub screws with the correct Allen key.
  • Blow through the dispenser with compressed air to clear debris.
  • The grub screws are different sizes and must be returned to their original positions.

Frequently asked questions

The ProDispenser is purpose-built for LivestockIQ supplements and calibrated to suit our fine-sieved formulations. We cannot recommend or guarantee its performance with products from other manufacturers, and prior use with other products may affect dispensing accuracy when returning to a LivestockIQ supplement.

For year-round products, repeat every 6 weeks. Key time-of-use products vary: MagBoost, for example, is dosed every 3 weeks through the grass tetany risk window, and StressGuard is dosed ahead of each stress event. Always follow the dose guidelines on the drum.

Divide the dose evenly and apply it manually over the dosing window. Example: 12L over two days = 2L morning, noon and night each day.

Why we've added boron

Boron is a trace mineral that works behind the scenes. Rather than doing one job on its own, it influences how the body handles other key minerals. That’s why it’s now included in our conventional livestock formulations.

Where boron plays a role
Mineral metabolismBoron interacts with how the body uses calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and vitamin D.
Calcium and phosphorus useTrials in pigs and poultry have linked boron to better calcium and phosphorus retention and stronger bones.1,2
Bone and skeletal developmentBoron is involved in bone formation and mineralisation, alongside calcium, phosphorus and magnesium.2
Antioxidant and immune activityReviews link boron to antioxidant activity and immune response, helping support animals through stress.2
What about cattle and sheep? Research in ruminants is still developing. Studies in dairy cows around calving have looked at boron's effect on energy metabolism and colostrum, with promising early results.3,4 We see boron as a supporting player that rounds out our formulations, working alongside the trace elements and 16 amino acids already in the range.
OrganicMax* and OrganicGuard* remain boron-free to meet organic input requirements.
