BUYING

Sutherlands Livestock Selection offers a service of purchasing livestock, both sheep and cattle both store and breeding on a per head basis keeping its independence of all agents and studs but still able to buy through your own agent or through an agent elsewhere. Therefore there is no financial gain for a higher price to purchase stock and also giving the opportunity to buy from any sale or private sale no matter which agents are concerned.

Sutherland’s Livestock Selection also organises all trucking and health certificates for all stock purchased making sure all counts are correct and if required insurance and any other matters are dealt with at the place of purchase.

Having had years of experience running his own livestock, Kym will only buy livestock that he would buy for himself.

CLASSING & SIRE SELECTION

Sutherlands Livestock Selection offers a cattle classing and sire selection service.

Having had many years of experience in the areas of stud and commercial beef cattle and being involved with artificial insemination and natural breeding programs with many successful beef herds has led him to be a successful classer.

Using his experience from both day to day management of cattle through to sale of stock and beyond has over the years perfected management programs for both selection of replacement females and to improve calving ease in beef females. He offers this information in the forms of individual consultation or actual evaluation and selection of your cattle. Kym also has a strong involvement in sire selection have a strong belief in using breed figures in combination with visual inspection but must be compatible, an advantage to individual herds.

Sutherland’s Livestock Selection has an extensive network of stud breeders in most beef breeds but has no affiliation with any breed or stud, thus being able to source the ideal sire based on individual quality of the animal. Receiving catalogues from most breeders enables Kym to identify potential animals on breed plan figures before visually assessing potential sires for clients.

Sutherlands Livestock Selection offers an individual service tailored to your herds specific needs by a personal visit to your property and setting up a genetics program individually suited to your herd after inspection of your cattle.

This is a huge advantage Kym gives as his years of experience can help to suggests paths for your herd to increase financial gain from a stockman’s point of view. Using both visual and breed plan figures for genetic gain.

CONSULTING

Kym brings to the livestock industry a whole new fresh approach to livestock management consulting. Being from a background of hands on experience his information comes from his own successful management skills gained from years of managing different and varied properties varying from dry land grazing to intensive cell grazing and also calling on personal experience gained from his clients.
He is a firm believer that every property is individual and thus needs to be run slightly differently to achieve profitable and sustainable land.

The consulting service is offered by a personal visit and continued assistance on a yearly basis.
