In a world economy that to say the least is "fragile" it is very pleasing to report that our company has grown rapidly over the last twelve months, this I contribute mainly to once again the good old fashion "bush telegraph". To back up the "word in the bush" we have run a very successful television campaign letting clients give their opinions on BLM. I would like to personally thank all those that contributed to the TV advert and also to those clients that offered to help but we could not fit in. The success of our product all over Australia has not only be noticed by the livestock producers themselves but now by Elders, Landmark and many independent stores who are now all happy to stock the BLM range of products; "grass roots" pressure is the best of the lot.
Our BLM products have performed where it counts, livestock performance, less labour cost and cost saving. It is also pleasing to hear the feedback from clients that used BLM Blue Cap + Phosphorus in conjunction with "lick or blocks" when the season got tight. The reduction of intake of the dry supplement was reported from all over Australia, this cost savings has brought even more interest to our products. Also the feedback from customers again from all over Australia with their success and results from the Green Cap Low Stress Mix has been very rewarding personally for me as a very passionate advocate of low stress stock handling. Due to constant enquiries from both clients and stores we have had to bring our Red Cap Horse Mix back onto the market but will only be available in 10 litre drums. For 2012 we have opened an office in Mount Gambier SA. The contact details for our head office are on the contacts page of our website. Kelly & Angie, staff our new head office. Chris, Kelly & I would like to welcome Angie who started in Jan. 2012. Our team in manufacturing has grown as well, we welcomed to the team, Trav, Shaun & Ryan.
Chris and I will be again on the road this year, attending events such as the Lucindale SA field days, Northern Territory Cattle Assoc. conference in Darwin NT, Beef 12 in Rockhampton Qld, Townsville Qld Beef Field Day, Broken Hill NSW Field Day, information nights in far north Qld along with campdrafts in NT. Keep an eye on our website for updated information on our whereabouts.
If you feel that we need to spend time in your area please do not hesitate to contact me and we will work something out.

While back in South Australia over what was supposed to be the southern summer, I indulged myself in my passion of livestock and genetics. Having been involved in commercial beef classing for the last 15 years I did some trips to Angus Bull sales to select sires for long time clients I still class for.
I had my first visit to Banquet Angus at Mortlake. Those of you that know my opinions of commercial cattle know that I am not easily impressed. I have been a long time believer that because of the popularity of the Angus breed there has been bulls sold as sires that should never been sold.
So my visit to Banquet Angus at Mortlake Vic. to see 150 even bulls showing good bone a skeletal structure from lot 1 to lot 150 was a pleasant surprise. The influence of New Zealand blood gives these cattle thickness and good butt shape; it was also good to see a masculine head backon bulls instead of the steer type head that is becoming more prominent head in the Angus breed. These cattle to me go back to basics they stand and walk well and the backend of the bull matches the shoulders and head.
From a commercial breeders position an even drop of calves that can be sold together is the goal we all strive for, the closer we get to that the more efficient our beef programs are. So well done Banquet team! The photo is of one of the bulls I purchased at the sale for one of my clients for $4,000. I suggest if you have a chance, go have a look for yourself, I am sure like me you will be most impressed.

2011
As a family company starting in February 2006 at the Lucindale field days, it has been a very rewarding six years. We have grown from a strong foundation of trial work to steadily expand to see our products being used in all states of Australia.
To win the innovation category in the SA Great awards in 2006 gave our fledgling company the inputs to spread and expand our client's base quickly. We then have grown rapidly again in Northern Australia because of the introduction of our Blue Cap Phosphorus and Green Cap travel mix.
In November 2010 we were nominated in the national small business awards held in Sydney in two categories. Business growth which we finished in the top 10 out of over 300 nominations and we finished in the top four in the Agriculture sector, although we did not win we all came away pleased with the recognition our company had received on the national stage.
It is pleasing to announce that our company is now entering another growth stage with plans being drawn up for new manufacturing facilities to be built in 2011. Our old facilities that have served us well have become too small and cramped for the volume manufactured and needed to be stored. This is an exciting time for all of us who have had the belief and the passion in the BLM range of products. To get reports back from happy clients from as far afield as the Gascoyne, Murchison and Kimberly region of Western Australia, the Northern Territory and then from the middle of Tasmania, shows that our products are an advantage to livestock all over Australia.

The dry season (April to November) in the top end of Australia has been excellent for Beachport Liquid Minerals this year. The clients using or products for the first time last year without exception reordered and told others about their success with BLM. The "BUSH Telegraph" certainly works well in the top end.
The Blue Cap+Phos mix that was requested by clients and potential clients last year was well received. There were the usual skeptics of "something new" that did their own blood tests, before and after and even a major rural outlet took the time to offer a blood test to our clients. Needless to say the positive results only help BLM's standing in the market place against far more expensive traditional livestock supplements.
The Green Cap (electrolyte low stress mix) has been a flag ship for BLM this year, this has been somewhat of a personal triumph for me, as I strongly believe as a stockman that stress and hydration of livestock while working in yards or travel needs to be addressed both for the livestock's sake and for $$ returns to the property.
With the season being so poor, for the land holders in the Gascoigne and Murchison areas of W.A. and also, the 350kg cap on live export meant that a lot of cattle are being carted huge distances. Clients have successfully used our green cap for trucking store cattle to southern properties, heavier cattle to abattoirs (see Go Go Station's testimonial) for introduction to feedlots and for dosing to freshly mustered scrub bulls before transport. The Green cap mix has been successful in all these applications and the "bush telegraph" has spread its capabilities far and wide.
Livestock owners in Southern Australia are using the Green Cap (electrolyte low stress mix) for transporting stock to slaughter and they are also getting the benefit of "low ph. levels" and less "dark cutters" when selling into a grid.
We have now arrived home for our southern summer and looking forward to catching up with our clients, and also following up on S.A. enquiries from our new web site.
